Higher education quality assurance is a systematic, planned, and continuous activity designed to ensure and enhance the quality of higher education provision. It is implemented through the PPEPP cycle: Setting, Implementing, Evaluating, Controlling, and Improving higher education standards.
Quality assurance encompasses both academic and non-academic areas. The academic domain covers education, research, and community service, while the non-academic domain includes organization, finance, student affairs, human resources, and facilities and infrastructure. The entire process is supported by accurate, up-to-date, and accountable data and information.
At Diponegoro University, quality assurance aims to ensure the fulfillment of standards in a planned and sustainable manner, foster a culture of quality, support the achievement of the university’s vision and mission, and produce competent, competitive graduates. Implementation is carried out through the Internal Quality Assurance System and the External Quality Assurance System (via accreditation).
Quality assurance is implemented through two interconnected mechanisms: the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) and the External Quality Assurance System (SPME). SPMI is conducted independently by the university using the PPEPP cycle, whereas SPME is carried out through an accreditation process by authorized accreditation bodies. The results of SPMI implementation serve as the basis for evaluation, continuous improvement, and accreditation applications.
At the university level, quality assurance is coordinated by LP2MP; at the faculty or school level, by TPMF/S; and at the study program level, by GPM. Through monitoring, evaluation, Internal Quality Audits, the formulation of follow-up plans, and Management Review Meetings, quality assurance functions as an instrument for continuous improvement rather than merely an administrative task or preparation for accreditation.
